Max has worked at Jigsaw since 2013. Her hard work and dedication to her clients is second to none which is why she was awarded the Brings out the Best in People Award at our Away Day.

How did you feel when you found out you were nominated and then won the award?
“I was really surprised to be nominated and to win but it’s really a reflection on my entire team.”
The Brings out the Best in People Award is for someone who inspires you and who brings out the in residents and colleagues so you can work together to achieve your goals. – How do you apply this to your work?
“I try and support our clients by recognising that they are where they are and I let them progress at their own pace. I am willing to walk alongside them and listen to what they have to say without trying to tell them what to do. I make sure I work as part of a team to be supportive and bring out the best in them.”
Describe your ‘typical’ day at work
“I can work very long days but no one day is the same. Once a week I take part in Risk Management meetings and I also attend MARAC meetings to work with other agencies and help safeguard clients. I sometimes chase up court outcomes, write reports, look in to new referrals to the service and also attend Child Protection meetings, all helping to support our clients.”
Which aspects of the job really get you motivated?
“When you see people rebuild and move on from hard experiences and see the difference we have made to peoples lives. It is also nice when clients sometimes go on to work in the same roles that have helped them.”
What are the greatest challenges?
“Often there are not enough refuge and safe spaces which can be difficult. Also, our team is only made up of so many people and there is only so much we can do but regardless we are a really good service.”
What’s on your Spotify/iTunes/playlist?
“I’m a fan of indie music, including The Smiths and David Bowie but I also love Stevie Wonder.”
