Could You Lend a Hand for Volunteer Day?

Could You Lend a Hand for Volunteer Day?

Today (05 December) is International Volunteer Day (IVD) and we are looking for people to help us as part of this event.

If you would like to get involved as a volunteer, we may need people to come forward to help us deliver food donations to our local foodbanks.

For the last few weeks, colleagues have been collecting items of essential food, toiletries and cleaning products to donate to foodbanks in Wigan, Tameside, Nottingham and Manchester.

Each year, hundreds of millions of people volunteer their time and skills to help make the world a better place. When they volunteer, they help to improve the lives of others. And when they volunteer, they also gain a greater sense of belonging to their communities.

On 5 December, people around the world will celebrate with parades, volunteer fairs, group clean ups, fundraising, workshops and volunteer recognition events.

If you have a vehicle and can spend a little time dropping off a parcel at one of our chosen foodbanks, please e-mail louise.appleton@jigsawhomes.org.uk

Please note, our foodbank collection runs until Wednesday 7 December and drop offs can be done from 8 December to 13 December at:

  • Atherton Parish Church St John the Baptist, Market Street, Atherton
  • Holy Trinity & Christ Church, Corporation Street, Stalybridge
  • Manchester Central, Peter’s House, Oxford Road
  • Arnold Foodbank, Daybrook Baptist Church, Mansfield Road
